Breaking Generational Curses

December 30, 2016

I was at a diner yesterday working on a few things, when I sparked up a conversation with a lady sitting beside me. It was one of those conversations when you are talking to someone and it feels like you have known each other for ever.

She said that she was sitting there for an hour or so and that she did not feel like she got anything done during the entire time that she was there. Of course me being who I am, I simply put my coffee down and asked if she would like to join me at my table.

As the conversation progressed, I saw so many things in her. I saw someone that was afraid, someone who was scared and someone who was ambitious but perhaps did not feel as if she was worthy of all of the things that she was planning.

I always find it ironic how even though we are adults and free from things that perhaps haunted us in our childhood, a lot of individuals still hold on to other peoples opinions, expectations while continuing to carry the hurt and shame from their past.

As children, we grow up to be parents, it is imperative that we break the curses for ourselves, but even more importantly for our children. I am so fortunate to have such an amazing mother who supports me and loves me unconditionally. I only pray that I will one day have the same type of relationship with my children.

After the conversation with her, I offered her a complimentary hour session and I am beyond excited to continue to work with her to ensure that she understands that she can have and reach all of the goals that she is desiring.

Answer the following questions:

1. Do you ever have roadblocks that cause you to feel stuck, but deep inside knew that it was not even about the task that you were trying to complete, rather an issue yo had to overcome? If you are going through that now as we speak, I want to encourage you to shake it off, get refocused, and execute.

2. What do you do to refocus when this happens?
